Yet public funding has limits
Nearly 40 percent of Northside students come from low-income households, and CPS dollars cover only teacher salaries. Everything else, from textbooks and technology to the arts and extracurriculars, depends on parent and community support.
What Friends of Northside does
FON is a volunteer-run 501(c)(3), EIN 36-4391169, that fills these gaps by funding classroom materials, technology, the arts, athletics, and even three teacher salaries.
